Xapo, who are reputedly the largest custodian of Bitcoin in the world and ranked in the Forbes Fintech 50 list, are planning to expand their operations in Gibraltar.
CEO Wences Casares and Seamus Rocca of Xapo met with the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo at No 6, along with Minister for Commerce Albert Isola, Paul Astengo from Gibraltar Finance and Joey Garcia of Isola’s law firm.
Xapo is headquartered in California and already holds a financial services licence in Gibraltar. The wallet and cold storage provider aims to make bitcoin more secure and accessible via its mobile app, debit card and online services.
Mr Casares also met with the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission on this visit.
